Kim Kelly Is My Friend is the fourth episode of the Freaks and Geeks TV series. It was written by Mike White and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. The episode was intended to air in November 1999, but it was instead aired on September 5, 2000.

Summary[]

Kim invites Lindsay to dinner, explaining that she needs to introduce a nice friend to her parents. After Lindsay realizes what an abusive home Kim is living in, the two flee the scene in Kim's car. Sam is bullied by Karen Scarfolli, whose locker is, coincidentally, next to his.

Plot[]

Lindsay is fed up with the way Kim treats her, so Kim tries to make it up to her, inviting her for dinner at her parents' house. Kim tells Lindsay that the former needs to bring home someone better than the rest of her friends to prove to her parents that she isn't a loser. The dinner turns into a massive fight, causing the girls to run away and drive away in Kim's parents' car. They find Daniel fooling around with Karen, angering Kim, who nearly runs them over. When they get to Lindsay's house, Kim says that her life sucks and that Lindsay is her only friend. During dinner, Kim's mother calls and upsets Lindsay's mother. Nick comes over, saying that Daniel is outside and wants to talk to Kim. She says that she will never talk to Daniel again, and runs to Sam's room. Sam tells her to go away - he's mad at Kim, because of what her friend, Karen, did. Kim says they're not friends anymore, and she promises Sam she'll "break her hands". Daniel enters the house through the kitchen door, and fights with Kim. The two eventually make up. Leaving, Kim proposes they will have a dinner together the next day and hang out.

Meanwhile, Karen vandalizes Sam's locker, and Sam is blamed for it, being forced to write a 500-page essay on vandalism. Since the graffiti said "Pygmy geek", he and his friends get in a dispute over who is the biggest geek.
